About Us
New Jerusalem Home of the Saved Church is located at 160 Sheridan Avenue, in the heart of the Sheridan-Hollow/Arbor Hill community in Albany, New York with salvation of the soul, baptism in water and the Spirit, at the core of its mission and vision.
Our church is blessed to serve as a positive, long-standing, action-oriented force in the community committed to making a difference by improving the lives of those in need. We have a four-fold mission: salvation; spiritual edification; spiritual fellowship and improved quality of life all consistent with the Word of God.
We continue to build upon the foundation laid by Pastor Claire J. Murray and the saints of old. We believe in teaching and preaching the Word of God and the wonderful Name of Jesus undiluted and in the power and demonstration of the Holy Ghost!
Our technological platforms which include our website, facebook site, youtube site and NewJerusalem Live radio broadcast allow us to extend our ministry far beyond our church walls. New Jerusalem now reaches approximately 10,000 persons weekly as a result of its open source practice and philosophy which includes sermon summary and video postings on facebook, the website and youtube platforms.
New Jerusalem's ministry also extends in the community through service and love. The Annual Community Block Party directly serves the community in a significant way by promoting a sense of community and making self-betterment resources (ie. employment readiness resources, literacy, health care, etc.) readily available to children, adults and families. The goal of this annual effort is to bring about positive and lasting community change as a result of the efforts of numerous coordinated volunteers and service agencies.
In addition New Jerusalem offers the youth an opportunity to participate in enriching activities! Our women's and men's auxiliaries provide spiritual enhancement, enrichment and edifying fellowship.
The church is under the leadership of a community-focused, bible-based Pastor, Dr. Timothy L. Harper and a church leadership team consisting of Godly men and women, strong prayer warriors among them.
Pastor Harper's years in the pastorate have produced innovation, development and renewal in every area of the church highlighted by an increased membership, newly designed church sanctuary and edifice, modern property upgrades, and strong partnerships with churches, community organizations, corporations and academic/professional institutions. The church annex represents the most recent achievement as God continues to allow the New Jerusalem congregation to build the wall and not come down! To God Be the GLory!
