Dear Community Friend,
I write on behalf of New Jerusalem’s 21st Dr. Annual Pamela J. Harper Community Block Party Planning Committee, with hopes that you will provide a monetary donation in support of this year's special event scheduled for Saturday, August 24th, 2024. We expect 600+. The goal of our church’s unique annual event is to promote a sense of community and safe space in our underserved communities.
As you may know, my mom and our dear First Lady Min. Pamela Harper passed away in Dec. 2022. Thus, we have named this event, she founded, in her honor going forward.
For the past twenty years, people of all ages have been drawn to this event, offering “Free Food, Fun & inFo.”, and have been given the opportunity to take advantage of a myriad of local resources, which have been brought to their very own neighborhood. Resources such as financial management, long-term health planning and screening, home purchasing and improvement materials, youth services, employment readiness resources, Christian materials, fire and crime prevention materials, and literacy resources were available from designated booths.
In addition to the educational resources, young and old participants have enjoyed interacting with city officials, school supply giveaways, healthy cooking demonstrations, crime prevention training, tennis lessons, a clown, crafts, inflatable bounce houses and Zorb balls, live music, a petting zoo, a photo booth, games and prizes.
We are a non-profit organization (tax exempt # 14-1823138) and NJHS's New York Charities Registration number is 42-95-20.
